Globular Clusters & Pulsars 3D Explorer
This interactive visualization shows globular clusters (yellow/gold) and their pulsars (pink) within the Milky Way galaxy. The galaxy is obviously fake particle simulation and it only added for orientation. The distances are scaled but relative.
Features:
- Navigation: Click & drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, right-click to pan
- Search: Type cluster names (NGC 104, Ter 5) or pulsar names in the search bar
- Selection: Click on any cluster to pin its information panel
- Filtering: Filter clusters by pulsars, distance, mass
- Observer Tools: Set your location and time to see Alt/Az coordinates
- Compare: Add clusters to compare list and export as CSV
- Overlays: Toggle galactic, equatorial, ecliptic planes and Sun line
- Share: Share your exact view to someone else with a link
- Export: Save screenshots or filtered data
Data Sources:
- Globular cluster positions, distances, and properties from Holger Baumgardt's catalog
- Paulo's Globular Cluster Pulsar catalogue (GCpsr.txt)
- Cluster images from Holger Baumgardt's image archive
Controls:
- Escape: Unpin current cluster and return to previous view
- Enter: Execute search
- ASTRONOMER button: Open advanced tools panel
- Spin slider: Adjust pulsar rotation speed visually. Log scaled for better visualization
